Following discussions for a possible new club layout, several members decided to look more closely at the L&B narrow gauge railway line with its connection with the standard gauge at Barnstaple. The club chosing to go a different direction the group decided to go alone as a private venture.

So the project called the NG7 group was formed. It was decided that sections would refer to the block sections as known on the railway and each section would be modular on the basis that each section can be joined to another with various formations to suit the space available at shows.

The sections being built to date include Barnstaple (Chris Jenner); Pilton Yard and Quay, (John Shaw); Woody Bay, ( Richard Read and a scenic section including Chelfham Viaduct, (Bev Dunstan and Jerry Griffin).

Baseboards are by Grainge and Hodder with alignment and connecting methods agreed. The baseboard electrical connections will allow for the addition of extra sections if required. Each member can operate their section in their preferred way, the only common arrangement was track power and DCC was chosen.

New sections can be added by members as there are many other interesting parts to this line including stations and scenic areas. Modern techniques are used where available including, laser cutting and etching, 3D printing, and the artistic talents of members to produce this new venture.
