ABOUT US | |||
The Winchester Railway Modellers have been together for over 60 years. The first meeting was called on the 15th July 1959. 14 persons attended and agreed to form the 'Winchester and District Model Railway Club'. Meetings were held on Wednesdays. WRM has just under 30 members with a wide range of interests in real and model railways, from pre-grouping to modern image, scratch building locomotives to DCC operation. We meet every Wednesday from 7.30pm till 9.30pm, come rain or shine, summer or winter. Whilst we are looking for new premises we are meeting in different community halls in the area. The skill levels of members range from novice to experienced, with an emphasis on sharing knowledge and improving skills. We attend exhibitions in the south, but can go further a-field, so you may bump into us wherever you are. At exhibitions not only do we bring along one of our layouts, occasionally we show off our knowledge of modelling skills, with demonstrations and tips available to the public. If you are interested in becoming a member of WRM, then you can contact either our chairman, or our secretary. They will be more than pleased to help you and answer any queries you may have and arrange visits. Talk to either our chairman or secretary and they will arrange with you when is best, and will give you directions to the club room. Contact details can be found on the contact page, or click here for an email enquiry.
