CHAIRMAN'S CHATTER |
November 07 Thank
you for your kind comments regarding our house move. One
other problem now is the need for me to have an operation on an eye and
for Morella to have one on her foot. Still we plan to have these whilst
the children move our furniture to the new home, room layouts will be
provided! On
a personal note, Aveton Gifford has been sold to a member of the
Sheffield O gauge Group and he does expect to exhibit the layout. We may
be able to give help at a future Telford, who knows? OO
gauge Matters In
the absence of Rich and Bill the focus of work has switched to scenery
with Mike working on the Maurie Memorial Gasworks and Peter working on
the 'Great Bridge' (biggest since Bernard's) at one end and Clive
finishing the station area at the other with platform canopies and a
brick wall. Mick Rich is assisting the group by planning the re-wiring
to produce more reliable running and some judicious levelling is also
planned to get rid of de-railing problems. The number of people available to work on the layout dictates the rate of progress, to some extent. The group is, therefore, looking for ways to increase the size of its working membership. EM
gauge Matters As forecast at the AGM, preliminary work has begun towards the building of an EM layout on the former St. Kitts baseboards. A track plan has been finalised and it is hoped that track laying will commence quite soon. O
gauge Matters Planning
for Itchen Bottom continues with various tasks now farmed out. Running will be the main activity between now and March to prove both stock and the layout etc. Completion of the lighting unit is paramount. Other
Business Good news re the Christmas Party. Thanks to Albert we are to hold the party at his home in the Lounge that he has available. A kitchen is also available for our use. Maps will be given nearer the time and I will co-ordinate food etc (unless in hospital!!).
