CHAIRMAN'S CHATTER

Chairman's Chatter is compiled quarterly by our Chairman John Shaw. John summarizes the latest developments in the club covering general news, exhibition reports, developments in the clubs layouts, and any other notices. Jan 2016 Please note the new additions to the Exhibition calendar. Please put these dates in your new diary, as the club needs to support these shows to gain new members. We have a busy exhibition year ahead of us. The Club’s annual dinner is soon and I hope as many as possible can attend. We shall be presenting the club trophies at the dinner. OO Gauge Matters Progress in several areas is described below. Baseboards The Romsey Line baseboard has been fabricated linking the mainline scenic board to the fiddle yard board. Minor modifications are required to facilitate the board-to-board connections. Once they are complete the Romsey tracks will be laid and ballasted. Wiring Continuity testing of all of the fiddle yard boards is underway, including point polarity and operation. Control System & Boxes The control boxes are largely complete. Work continues on the associated end of board “D connector” wiring. Buildings and Scenic Consideration of the final locations of structures continues. The back scene remains to be finalised but it will include some features that will “define” the location. 3^rd.Rail The decision to include the 3^rd rail was taken at the outset, thereby allowing depictions of the end of steam and later periods. The “design” of the 3^rd rail layout and associated protection boards and cabling is almost complete. The 3^rd rail insulation components have to be agreed, as alternatives are available. EM gauge Matters Ongoing testing continues with de-snagging as necessary. O gauge Matters Track is now all laid in the MPD and wires attached awaiting the new logic box etc. Ballasting continues and when tested and running scenic items will be added.
