by our Chairman John Shaw. John summarizes the latest developments in the club
covering general news, exhibition reports,
developments in the clubs layouts, and any other notices. To

Oct 2018 Chairman’s Chatter The AGM is upon us once again. Please try to
attend this important meeting. 00 Gauge Matters Running
Evenings
Running evenings have continued that have
proved that work on some of the tracks and points are very reliable. Upcoming
Appearances at Model Railway Exhibitions with Redbridge as follows: The Southampton Model Railway Exhibition at
Barton Peveril College The detailed exhibition information has been
provided to the Exhibition Manager and a large van has been booked. Work in
Progress Work outside of the usual Wednesday Club times
has been spent on other days by some Members. Control systems The control system for the
track work, points and control systems are mostly complete and reliable. The
work has included more repairing of soldered joints. Lighting We have advised the southampton show that we shall
not have lighting. However, a suitable lighting system is being considered and
may be ready for the Exhibition. Scenic Sections Completed Work/ Work “Almost Completed” Major scenic works have been
completed or almost completed including: Grass reeds on mud flats, other
“grass” etc., moorings, quayside, the old causeway bridge abutments and fixing
bricks, log pond, moorings, water marks on the quayside and the appropriate
items. Also ladders on the sea wall,
the drying shed is in progress as is the foundry board. Work to Be Completed The aim for the
Barton Peveril Exhibition is to include: the platforms buildings, the signals and the
backscreen. EM gauge
matters
No work at present owing to other work being carried out in the
clubroom.
Work has slowed whilst the daughter boards of
Redbridge were attached to their layout small improvements have been made to
Canal Junction. Brian is constructing a detailed weighbridge and suitable
vehicle for Abbotstone. The DCC power is to be amended to give protection
against short circuits and this will be fitted when we can get at the power
supply!
Other
Business.
The collection with regard to Karolyn
Culverwell was forwarded to the undertakers. The amount raised by the few
members present was £45.00. Thank you.
